COA is an event where in-game crews compete against each other in their respective servers. Each competing crew's goal is to make their way up to the global tournament where they will compete with the top crews in other servers.
The event always has a theme to it and includes character skins and pets that relate to the theme.
"In an extremely cold place, there is a steam city. At this forgotten corner, the city lights up a torch and becomes the home of all wanderers. But the fire will burn out eventually. The only way to save the fire is to wake up the madness of the frozen abyss and overdraw all reasons and hopes..."

The Call of the Abyss II story revolves around a young boy who hoped to join the high rankings of an elite organization located in Steam City because he sought to be an adventurer. This organization is called The Expedition: a group that serves its main purpose of collecting and protecting items from an abyss in the city. One day when the boy was living through another day in Steam City, there was an emergency crisis declared. A powerful and rare relic had been stolen, and the effect of that was that the city's source of energy had to be shut down in response to the stolen item. The city was then freezing up and later on the whole population was having spikes of mania; everyone was slowing falling into madness.
Due to the boy’s longing for some action, he stepped up on his own to solve the city’s problem and to also prove himself that he was worthy of joining high ranked expeditions. As the protagonist of the story, he had to face many conflicts along the way in order to reach the final conclusion. The boy had made many allies, enemies, and dangerous risks throughout his whole adventure. When all was said and done, there was one last dire decision the boy had to make that would determine the fate of Steam City.
During the Call of the Abyss II tournament in May 2019, a short cinematic video regarding the COAII story would play on all three days that the tournament occurred in.
The video contains a lot of ambiguity about the story, but it somewhat helps with understanding the story's foundation.

There was a place once known as Steam City
It was where adventurers congregate and where outlaws flee to for asylum
Among them were a few nameless individuals relentlessly pursuing their goal: to put out the city's great inferno.
The battle between ice and fire was reaching its conclusion
The great roar that once reverberated through the whole city is now but a whimper
The fire that has yet to disappear reflected the ice’s shadow in the ever expanding frost.
When meltwater seeped into the thermal core, those who were cold hearted grew deranged
The weak lost their sanctuary and chaos erupted
Those who had perished had already been forgotten by those who remained
It was then that a courageous youth had finally exposed the traitor’s identity
On the other hand, the convicts who hungered for the treasures’ powers finally set an even more dire plan into motion
Their century old ship had long since decayed, yet it was still a nightmare for those in the tower
The bone-chilling blizzard brought about despair
No one was afraid of living in ruins. Those who would complain might as well die out in the cold
The battle reached its climax.
We cannot hesitate under the petrifying gaze of the abyss.
Was it darkness or hope that was casted in the city's great flame?
In the journey through the abyss, only if you remain determined and reached the summit, will you be able to oversee everything with no regrets.

Story
The story of COAII can be explained in 3 parts: Steam City, High Tower, and Road to Abyss.
The reason for the naming of these parts is simply because of the actual COAII in-game stages that had these exact names. All three parts can be seen as a beginning, middle, and end respectively.
